Not Actually...

Here is some knowledge that I gained while spending some q.t. with my utah friends this weekend:

1. Blogging is not actually keeping in contact with or actually conversating with people.
Several times this weekend, Lisa and I would be talking about something, and I'd say, "oh yeah, you told me about that!" only a few minutes later to realize that she didn't so much as "tell" me about it, but blogged about it, and I read it, and then my mind tricked me into thinking that we actually talked about it.

2. Facebook is not actually being friends with someone. Here's the conversation I joined mid sentence...
Pam:"...blahblah facebook."
Me: "Wait, Pam, you're on facebook? Why aren't we friends?"
Pam: "Because we're friends in real life".
Exactly.
So, I'm not sure where I'm going with this. I'm by no means trying to bag on blogging or facebook. I l-o-v-e reading blogs and blogging. And I'm going to be honest and say that I love seeing all of your faces on the book of faces.
I am interested to know what you all think about blogs and facebook. Let's share our feelings.

How else would I still know what you're up to? Okay...well...I could ask Lara (because she knows ALL), but it'd feel more like gossip...

I totally know what you mean! The best is when I start telling someone a story about a "friend" and then I realize that the "friend" is actually just some random person that I blogstalk. I feel like we totally know each other and I'm even passing along their stories- but they have no idea who I am! Totally weird. And your right- does anyone actually TALK anymore?

the scariest part about the whole thing is that I blog with all my friends in the ward and we see eachother seriously 3x a week at playgroups tna then date night on weekends and then church...and yet all we talk about when we're together is "did you see so and so's blog today...so funny...etc," so yes...its wired this whole thing...I have determined to never go on facebook so that I don't get addicted to 2 horrible computer programs! P.s. you are my kind of girl ...first stop to your trip to Utah was of course Cafe Rio. We always drive straight from the airport every time! Love it!

I loved seeing you and I miss you already. The main reason why I love blogging is because it lets me pretend that I can see and "talk" to my firends that live far away

Facebook...a little indifferent. But I do love reading blogs. However, my current dilemma this year is that now I have nothing to say in my Christmas newsletter. For those who keep up with my blog it will be like reading my posts all over again.

Agree. It's funny who will contact you on facebook even though you barely knew them for like a year back in 1991. Ha! I guess I secretly love it, or else I wouldn't play.

As for blogging, I actually DO think its a way to keep in touch with people you know, and for me its a fun way to share our daily happenings with my family who all live far away. Even though I'll usually tell them about it first and then say "Go look at my blog for some pictures."

As for the blog stalking....I'm guilty and that is a very weird thing about blogging. I don't understand how I can be so interested in complete strangers lives/photography/recipes/ etc. But somehow I am and so I continue to feed the addiction. J/k!

I feel okay about my relationship with my close friends and family because I still call them on the phone instead of just texting. As far as the blog, I'm guilty for using it to "stay in touch."
